Janaina Tschape: Melantropics
Limited Edition Print

German and Brazilian artist Janaina Tschäpe created a special limited edition print Veratrum Bulbosus at world renowned Missouri Botanical Garden in spring 2006.  This new special artist edition is limited to 20 prints and is part of Tschäpe’s new series entitled Melantropics exhibited at the Contemporary.  In the photograph, Tschäpe constructs an imaginary environment that exists between the natural and the artificial as young, quiescent women in biomorphic artist-made costumes evoke imaginary and fictitious creatures.  This edition continues the artists’ interest in gardens from around the globe.
